CircuTale and CircuSaver are our two main projects, both emphasise the importance of sustainability and are committed to shaping younger generations into responsible, green-conscious leaders.

Who We Are

Jasmine Wei

Co-Founder, Executive Director, Project Manager for CircuTale

Jasmine Wei is a youth leader, ambitious academic, actress, writer and cross-cultural musician from New Zealand. She wishes to synergise her eclectic interests and establish long-lasting circular and systemic changes in the world.

Brian Zhao

Co-Founder, Director, Project Manager for CircuSaver

Brian is a math and CS wiz having received numerous accolades, including bronze medal in the International Mathematics Olympiad, top scholar in NZQA scholarship calculus, and 1st in NZ informatics contest. Brian believes that with science and technology we can make the world a more sustainable place, saving resources and energy.

The CircuTale Team

CircuTale's is one of CircuLab's biggest projects yet, with a mission of providing inclusive education on circular economy and sustainability through an engaging, interactive narrative app, empowering children to become changemakers for a better, greener future.

Audio Director

Siena McKenzie-Smith

Siena is a multi-talented artist based in New Zealand, with a passion for creating and composing music. Trained in jazz, she is a skilled multi-instrumentalist and has a keen ear for audio design.

Apart from music, Siena is also passionate about other forms of art, such as painting, and loves to express herself through different creative mediums. She is an avid surfer and traveler, always seeking new experiences and inspiration for her work. Siena wants to preserve the beautiful places in the world and joined circulab to help educate future generations in the best way she knows how, through music!

Shanying Liu

Ying is an arts and computer science student passionate about visual communication and both graphic and algorithmic design, having received national recognition for competitive programming and a top in the world award in art and design.

Ying has a keen interest in games and other digital media, as well as ways in which students may combat the climate crisis. In combining these pursuits, Ying believes strongly in the effectiveness of promoting awareness about social and climate issues through technology and applied arts.

Aashaya Anand

Aashaya is a tech and machinery enthusiast, writer, and classical ballet dancer of 11 years from India. She is particularly passionate about interactive learning using various media to deliver socially relevant education. She’s also a purposeful academic, having conducted significant amounts of recognised research in genetics and data science.

Additionally, she is an avid article writer and essayist, having written for several magazines, including one that she co-founded. Aashaya is enthusiastic about the philosophy that learning should be engaging and playful.

The CircuSaver Team

CircuSaver, a groundbreaking initiative by CircuLab, is dedicated to understanding the impact of paper-saving incentives on reducing school printer paper consumption. Through this project, we aim to encourage responsible use of resources, fostering a culture of sustainability among students and shaping them into conscientious leaders of a greener tomorrow.

NZ Chapter Lead

Tony Zhang

Bohao has a keen interest in politics, spending his time working under local politicians and participating in grassroot campaigns. He is also fascinated with economics - delineated through the essays he publishes online. These two interests then perfectly overlap with Circulab, which involves both the political issue of sustainability advocacy and the economic framework of the circular economy.

In his spare time, Bohao enjoys playing the trombone and reading historical non-fiction. Furthermore, he serves as chair of his school's Model United Nations Assembly and acts as a member of his local youth board. Bohao firmly believes that, only by starting at the youngest level, can we inspire the most enduring change.

Aashaya is enthusiastic about the philosophy that learning should be engaging and playful, and she channels that enthusiasm into CircuTale.
